X-Guard Sweep

Start with opponent standing in open guard, controlling the sleeves.

  • Take right foot and loop it under and over his left leg hooking his hip
  • At the same time loop right arm under and around his foot/ankle
  • Now take your left hook and place it under and behind his thigh
  • Move your right hook from his waist to under and in front of this thigh, just a little lower than the left hook
  • At this point you can move and destabilize him. Do so a little bit so he looses base and so he bends forward and you can grab his right sleeve with your right hand that is looped around his left foot
  • Move him up and around with your legs so you can reach his right ankle with your left arm
  • Now with your left arm on his right ankle and your right arm around his left ankle, and your hooks in X under him, just stretch him out and he'll fall back
  • When he falls back go with him so you end with your left shin over his right foot and your shoulder under his right knee
  • From there grab the collar, don't let go of his right sleeve, and control
  • Then pass guard
